What is psychotherapy?
Acceptance and transformation
My understanding of Psychotherapy is as a journey. A journey based on the self-exploration and growth. Embarking yourself in this journey can be challenging, in fact for most of us it is hard to talk about sensitive issues, such fear or anxiety is normal part of our lives. So instead of fighting these feelings, its best to just acknowledge that is totally normal and you are not alone.
In Psychotherapy I provide a confidential space which facilitates acceptance and transformation through the exploration of body sensations, emotions and thoughts. It is through this relationship that you will be able to choose a more authentic and positive outlook to yourself and others.
Why Psychotherapy?
Maximize your potential
I believe that everyone has the capacity of maximizing their potential and improving. I provide an environment in which the client feels safe, respected and heard. I am committed to being present to clients as they find their voice in an individual and non-judgmental way.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
How do I work?
My Methodology
I have an integrative and holistic approach to psychotherapy, what means that I work with the whole person, including different dimensions: cognitive, emotional, sensorial, spiritual and cultural. My training and theoretical background is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Integrative Psychotherapy, incorporating Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches as well as Sensorymotor psychotherapy and Mindfulness. This means that I use different techniques according to your personal needs.
I will design an individual plan based on these techniques to help you to achieve your goals.
The psychotherapeutic Journey
Stages
The journey of psychotherapy has different stages:
1. INITIAL ASSESSMENT
This introductory session is an opportunity for us to meet each other, assess your needs and explore whether therapy may be helpful for you. If we decide to work together, we will usually meet on a weekly basis. Length of Sessions: Each session is 50 minutes.2. STABILIZATION
In case you have experienced some form of trauma, we will spend some time to develop your sense of safety by stablishing boundaries and developing self-regulation techniques.3. PROCESSING
Following an individual plan of work, your experiences will be processed in a sensorimotor, emotional and cognitive level. You will achieve a better understanding about yourself, your relational patterns and your stress response, developing a new outlook and new strategies.4. INTEGRATION AND TRANSFORMATION
In this last stage your experiences in therapy are assimilated consciously. It is moment for tasting and flavoring all the “good things” and integrate the difficult parts or experiences. We will work towards the implementation of these changes in your everyday life.
